日本時間12月11日（金）9:00から開催されるアワードイベント「The Game Awards」の2020年度ノミネート作品が発表された。
「The Game Awards」は毎年もっとも優れた作品や、その功労者をたたえるアワードのひとつ。もっとも優れた作品であるゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤーには『DOOM Eternal』、『FAINAL FANTASY Ⅶ REMAKE』、『Ghost of Tsushima』、『Hades』、『あつまれどうぶつの森』、『The Last of Us Part Ⅱ』がノミネートされた。
なかでも今年大きな話題となった『Ghost of Tsushima』は、ゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤーなど7部門にノミネート。2600万本という驚異の売り上げ本数を叩き出している『あつまれどうぶつの森』は、ゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤーを始め3部門にノミネートされた。また、配信サイトで人気の『Among us』がベストモバイルゲームにノミネートしている。
ベスト・インディーには、発売直後にフリープレイに登場し大いに盛り上がった『Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout』や1983年発売の『スペランカー』に影響を受けた『Sperancky』、異形の怪物となり人間を食らうゲーム性が斬新な『CARRION』などがノミネートされており、ゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤーと並んでこちらも目が離せない。
イベントは、YouTube、Twitch、Twitter、Facebookライブ、Steam、TikTokライブなどで視聴が可能。
受賞作品や受賞者は、90％の審査員と一般投票10％の混合投票によって決定される。公式サイトから投票が可能なので、今年遊んだゲームに想いを馳せながら投票してみてはいかがだろうか。
